SO, I've decided that it does not feel like Christmas here, not because there's no cold, because, let's get real here, the past SEVERAL Christmases I've had were spent on a subtropical island, so no, that's not it, the reason me and Sis. Tauti have decided on is that we have nothing to REMIND us it's Christmas.........no Christmas music, no Christmas shopping, no commercials, no Christmas food/treats, and then my mom is not here bugging my brothers to fess up and tell my mom what they want for Christmas besides "something useful." Yeah, I know....it's weird, but still, we just keep forgetting it's the holidays...right up until almost everyone we tract into cancels our appointments because it's, "the holidays"......lame....what would be a better FAMILY activity than to be baptized on the 22nd of December and taking a HUGE step in their eternal progression together!!!!! I think it'd be a good Christmas present.......but whatevs...
So this week we had exchanges and since my mom is the Sister trainer and I went with her then it was like a reunion! And it was awesome because we taught a lot of lessons and I had some revelations in the lessons that were really nice! So here's one of them, so we were teaching a guy who's a Jehovah's Witness and he only reads the New World Translation Bible (evil, EVIL book, I'll say why later) and we were trying to get him to understand and believe that the Book of Mormon is ALSO the word of God because he's having a hard time recognizing the spirit (plus he's stubborn and Chinese so there's a language barrier too) But anyhoo, so we were teaching him and Sis. Christensen had mention that they had already had him read 3 Nephi Chapter 11, so I talked to him about the Bible and I said, "You know how you can read the Bible a hundred times and STILL learn things from it and have different passages really hit you even though you've read them many times before? It does that because it's the word of God, it's a 'living scripture'. Well, the Book of Mormon does the same, you can read it over and over and STILL have different verses hit you and stand out to you and touch you even though you've read them many times before, why? Because it's a living scripture, it's the word of God. And only the word of God can touch so many different people in so many different ways, with the same words. So, will you read 3 Nephi chapter 11 one more time, and pray and ask God to have something stand out to you, to touch you differently then the 1st time you read it. And if it does, then it's a living scripture, it's the word of God, and the Book of Mormon IS another testament of Jesus Christ." Needless to say he accepted and was very intrigued by his assignment. I'll have to ask Sis. Christensen what happens. But yeah, interesting concept huh?
Anyhoo, exchanges were good. So the pictures are of exchanges and of this morning's hike to........something that starts with a "W"........I don't remember, but it was a LONG hike, like 2 1/2 hrs, BUT I was the ONLY sister to make it to the top, everyone else turned back, AND out of the 24 missionaries that went, only 6 made it to the top! BAM! I'm a beast ;) But anyhoo, it was way cool cuz me and my district leader kinda fell behind and so we were the last to make it to the top BUT when we did, while everyone else was going back down, we ran into a couple who joined us in the end and she noticed my shirt and said, "GO COUGARS!" hahaha I was like, "of COURSE we'd run into Mormons on this hike." And she laughs and says, "well, don't worry, we're less active." And I said, "oh, well don't worry, we're missionaries!" ^_^ hahahahaha She started laughing and said she should have kept her mouth shut haha, naw, but they were way cool! They shared their water and some oranges (probably saved my life) and they said they were from Germany, er rather, she was, he had served a mission there. They were awesome! And so my district leader and I went back down and they caught up to us again when we were almost at the bottom and she said, "so where's the rest of your group (cuz we had told her there were lots of us) and we said they had all turned back and she goes, "well, YOU mde it! Here, here's $10, go buy yourself a nice big gallon of ice cream and share it with your group, but because YOU made it to the top, YOU get to pick the flavor." BAM!!!!! Best. P-day. EVER!!!! Hahahaha well I hope everyone's doing awesome! Work hard! Pray always!

P.S. Ok, so as for the New World Translation Bible. Well, you heard my speel about the word of God right? Well the NWT Bible is just a PERSON'S view of what the Bible is MEANING to say, and so they're making it in plain, simple American. BUT, by doing that, they're removing ANY possibility of the verse meaning something DIFFERENT, which is the whole POINT of the bible, to get NEW things out of it every time you read it, because it can apply to you situation and your life in DIFFERENT ways by reading it differently and having the holy ghost teach you differently. But if there's only ONE way the verse can be read, then it becomes a story, and you can't get anything NEW out of it, because the WORD OF GOD has been removed! SO, bottom line, stick to the King James Version of the Bible, and the Book of Mormon :) Love y'all!
