HEY Y'ALL!!!
Ok. Fact: to answer everyone's questions about the food. It's FINE! People are just babies. BUT then again, if you're here for 8-12 weeks, I can understand how the food can get VERY bland and tiresome. But it's honestly not that bad. Anyhoo, oh my goodness did this week fly by! Then again,I pretty sure the ONLY reason it did so was because NONE of us wanted it to. This morning our Elders in our district left for Texas Houston East and HOLY COW was it depressing! They'd become seriously like family and it was so sad to see them leave! But I know they're gonna make EXCELLENT missionaries! Us sisters are seriously so proud of them!
Anyhoo, Besides that a LOT has happened this week. 1st off our teachers both left! Sebesta went on vacation and then Grabau was technically never suppose to BE our teacher, he was a sub, so our REAL teacher (Bro. Kitchen) came back, (SO not that great of a teacher and SO glad I only have him for 1 more class on Tues) And then because Sebesta left we got a sub for him, her name is Sis. Cash......BEST. TEACHER. EVER!!!! So, story time:
She came in on Friday and we were all joking around chilling, waiting, planning the latest and greatest jokes to play on the teacher we were only gonna have for like 2 days....and then a Sister walked in and we were like....oh......ok, just kidding.....seriously, the spirit just SWEPT the room as she walked in! And it was just so great because during her class it all hit us that we were really going out into the field and we were really gonna be missionaries and we were all freakin' out a little and she just knew it, we then did a scripture reading of Alma 26 which is ALL about missionary work and all about the trials and triumphs in teaching the lamanites, and like every 3rd verse we'd stop and talk and bear testimonies. Seriously, the MOST I've felt the sprit in a class EVER, was that day! She just totally built our confidence up, she just KNEW what we needed! And then on Saturday for our lesson we taught her as her, not a role play, since in the field we WILL be teaching members too, and oh my goodness it was just a great experience! I have no doubt in my mind that she is constantly receiving revelation to help up and inspiration in her teaching! I've learned SO much in just 3 days it's insane!
So anyhoo, besides that awesomeness, we also had a really cool devotional where the speaker talked about the long grueling process it take to translate the Book of Mormon into another language and how it takes about 4-5 years involving MANY scholars and linguists. And then he compared it to the 70 days it took Joseph Smith (a guy with a 3rd grade education) to translate the Gold Plates and how from looking at the manuscripts of Oliver cowdry and how there are absolutely NO punctuation marks because he is writing SO fast and trying to keep up with Joseph Smith. I don't know it was just SUPER cool and it definitely streghtened my teastimony that Joseph Smith really did translate the Book of Mormon by the Power of God and that he really WAS a praphet and restored the gospel in these latter days :)
Oh! Fun fact, if any of y'all have seen the latest Joseph Smith movie, the kid who plays the young version of Joseph Smith is here at the MTC.......he's......interesting.......and it's funny because he had to dye his hair red to keep people from recognizing him so much haha but it doesn't really help that he's VERY proud of the fact that he played a prophet in a movie haha and he keeps teling everyone haha but whatevs :)
Oh another fun fact! I got my flight itinerary on Thursday! I'm leaving for Hawaii on the 21st! I head off to the airport at 8am with Sis.Johnston! We're so excited! And then Wednesday starts our Visitor Center training! We get to go to Temple Square Wednesday aaaaaaannnnnnnnnnd Thursday? Saturday? One of those days, and we get to work at the Referral Center and 2 other "centers" that I don't remember the name of haha it should be very interesting haha I'm excited though. We even get to have another P-day this week (Friday) because of the craziness that the visitor center stuff causes haha BUT we don't get our P-day Monday, so Friday will be the last day y'all here from me before I head to hawaii!!! :D :D :D
Sorry I haven't posted any pictures. There's no SD card slot on the computers and they did some sort of weird lock thing on them so you can't even pull up the folder of your pictures if you have a cord...it's weird....so I'll just post a ton when I get to hawaii :)
Ok, last thing before my little timer tells me to call it quits.
Me and Sis. Johnston are doing SO well with teaching our investigators, we've really learned how to connect with them and rely on the spirit to guide us to know what it is they need to learn :) You can't help but feel proud when the investigators look at you and go "How did you know!!!???!! That was EXACTLY what I needed to hear!" haha
I love this gospel so much and I'm so glad I'm able to be a missionary and spread these glad tidings to the people of hawaii!!! I hope you all are doing swimmingly! I love you all! Work hard! Pray always!
